Patrick James Fitzgibbons Jr. - March 31, 1926 to December 31, 2017
Patrick James Fitzgibbons Jr. - known as Pat - was born March 31, 1926, in Washington, D.C., and died December 31, 2017, at the age of 91. Before his legal career, he served as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne "Screaming Eagles" reconnaissance of the U.S. Army in World War II, jumping on D-Day and being among the first American soldiers to enter the Eagle's Nest in Austria. He later chose to settle in Nevada, where he remained a well-known longtime resident.
After an early career as an insurance adjuster, Pat spent the last 43 years of his life as a prominent attorney, short trial judge, arbitrator and expert witness. He was remembered by colleagues as a gentleman who set a sterling example for younger lawyers - unfailingly courteous, generous with his time, and known for his integrity. He devoted considerable effort to pro bono work assisting those in need.
Beyond his practice, Pat served on the boards of numerous community organizations and was particularly proud to have been a past President of Southwest Rotary International. He spent many years coaching Little League baseball, basketball and Pop Warner football, and volunteered thousands of hours with public and private organizations dedicated to preserving the outdoors he loved.
