Patrick Charles Clary was born June 4, 1942, in Las Vegas, and passed away February 18, 2014, after bravely battling a long illness. He graduated with honors from Las Vegas High School in 1960 and attended the University of Nevada in Reno from 1960 to 1962. He went on to earn his bachelor of arts and Juris Doctor degrees from American University in 1965 and 1967, respectively. While a student at American University's School of Government and Public Administration, he was inducted into the Pi Sigma Alpha Honorary Political Science Society.
Pat built a long and distinguished legal career in southern Nevada. His law firm maintained a general practice in Las Vegas, handling corporate, securities, financing, business law, bankruptcy reorganizations, immigration, and estate planning matters. Over the course of his career he became a respected figure in the Las Vegas legal community.
Beyond his law practice, Pat was deeply engaged in public life. He was a Democratic candidate in Nevada's Second Congressional District in 1994 with the support of the Clinton-Gore Administration, and shortly thereafter served as General Counsel of the Nevada Democratic Party. A supporter and mentor to many Young Democrats, he was remembered as a strong voice for the arts, for better international understanding, and for good government.
