Peter Toft Combs

Peter Toft Combs was born on January 23, 1944, at St. Mary's Hospital in Reno, Nevada, to Don and Rachel (Toft) Combs, and he lived in Reno for most of his life. He attended the University of Nevada, Reno, and later earned his law degree from the University of California, Davis, entering a legal career in Nevada.

A deeply intelligent and multi-faceted man, Peter was also an artist and craftsman who spent several years in the Pacific Northwest making pottery and building a home from the ground up. He was a gifted writer who brought family history and stories to life with precision, wit, and an extensive vocabulary. Despite years of debilitating back pain, he remained a devoted son who cared for his mother, Rachel, until her passing at the age of 100 in late 2015.

Peter died unexpectedly on November 18, 2017, at the age of 73. He is remembered by his family and friends for his intelligence, his creativity, and above all his tremendous sense of humor.
