Philip R. Byrnes - 1955-09-29 to 2023-09-30

Philip R. Byrnes was a longtime Nevada attorney who devoted much of his legal career to public service in Las Vegas. Born on September 29, 1955, in Illinois, he was admitted to the State Bar of Nevada on September 29, 1981, and went on to build a decades-long practice in the state.

Mr. Byrnes served for many years with the City of Las Vegas City Attorney's Office. He worked as a Deputy City Attorney - later holding the classification of Deputy City Attorney V - and served as Senior Litigation Counsel in the office's Civil Division. In that role he represented the City in significant litigation, including matters before the Supreme Court of Nevada such as City of Las Vegas v. Bustos, and the litigation surrounding the Badlands golf course development.

Over more than four decades in the profession, Mr. Byrnes was known for his work as a civil litigator on behalf of the City of Las Vegas. He passed away on September 30, 2023, one day after his 68th birthday.
