Alison J. Colvin

Alison Jane Colvin was born November 8, 1946, in Sacramento, California, to John and Margaret Warrack Colvin. She built her foundation in the law over many years, first earning her CLA certification and working in the legal field before pursuing her own legal education. Along the way, she also shared her knowledge as an instructor at the Career College of Northern Nevada, where former students remembered her as a dedicated and inspiring teacher.

After graduating from the University of Nevada, Reno, Alison went on to earn her law degree from the New England School of Law in Boston in 2001. She then returned to Reno to establish her practice as a family law attorney, admitted to the State Bar of Nevada on March 7, 2003. Known for her fight and vigor, she was well respected among her peers and earned numerous awards throughout her legal career.

Alison was remembered by colleagues, former students, and close friends as an advocate who cared deeply about others and the rights of those in need. She passed away in the early morning hours of September 18, 2017, after a long illness, and is remembered for a life well lived in service to her clients and community.
