In Memoriam

Richard Blain Andrus - September 28, 1951 to May 7, 2011

Richard Blain Andrus, known to friends and colleagues as Blain, was a longtime Nevada attorney who built his career in the American West. Born September 28, 1951, in Long Beach, California, to Richard Dean and Ramona Andrus, he was admitted to the State Bar of Nevada on September 30, 1985, and went on to spend decades in practice across the western states.

Blain practiced mining law for 37 years throughout the western United States, work that reflected both the region's history and his deep knowledge of its legal landscape. Based in Reno, he practiced with the firm Woodburn and Wedge, where his work included real estate transactions. He was also an author, having written "Brief History of Law."

Colleagues and family remembered Blain as a man who was both brilliant and humble, one who showed genuine respect and appreciation for every individual he encountered and for their unique contributions to his life. An avid runner, swimmer, and musician, he was married 39 years to Maxine Andrus and was the father of Alicia, Richard, and Carly. His knowledge, his music, and his humor left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
