In Memoriam
Richard W. Myers - 1943 to 2020
Richard W. Myers was born and raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where he completed college, graduate school, and law school before relocating west. He settled in Las Vegas in 1970 and practiced law in Nevada until his retirement in 2008, limiting his practice to personal injury, wrongful death, and medical malpractice litigation. For most of his career he was in partnership with Jim Crockett - who later became a District Court Judge - under the firm name of Crockett and Myers.
Mr. Myers was a leader in Nevada's trial bar. He was among the small group of lawyers who founded the Nevada Trial Lawyers Association, now known as the Nevada Justice Association, and later served as its president. He was also a past-president of the Western Trial Lawyers Association, a member of the Board of Governors of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and chairman of the Nevada Law Foundation.
His contributions to the profession were widely recognized. He was named Trial Lawyer of the Year in 2001 by the Nevada Trial Lawyers Association, and in 2009 he was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Nevada Justice Association. Beyond the law, he was active in his community, holding leadership roles with the Nevada Dance Theatre, the Nevada School of the Arts, the Episcopal Church, and the Boy Scouts of America.
