Robert Benjamin Walker Jr.

Robert Benjamin "Ben" Walker Jr. was born on March 31, 1947, in Sacramento, California, and was raised on a ranch on Bradshaw Road outside the city. He graduated from Elk Grove High School and went on to earn his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Davis, where he participated in ROTC and trained at Fort Benning, Georgia, and Fort Lewis, Washington. He then attended the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, launching a legal career that would span decades in northern Nevada.

Ben began his career with the Nevada State Public Defender's Office in Carson City and later joined the Carson City District Attorney's Office. In 1982 he entered private practice with a former colleague from the District Attorney's Office. After his law partners went on to become judges, he continued as a sole practitioner for approximately twenty years, serving the Carson City legal community throughout his career.

Ben passed away on November 26, 2019, following a courageous fight against cancer, surrounded by family, friends, and his dog Addie. He met his wife, Dixie, in Sacramento and married her after law school; the two shared 43 years together. He is survived by his wife, a brother, and three children.
