Robert Ernest Gaston

Robert Ernest "Bob" Gaston came to the law after a distinguished career in education. Following a doctorate in education from UNLV in 1978, he attended the California Western School of Law and returned to Las Vegas to begin his law practice. He was elected to the Nevada State Assembly in 1987 and again in 1989, serving the community that had become his home.

In 1992 he was elected to the bench of the newly created family court, where he served until 2004. During his tenure he helped establish a drug court dedicated to supporting people in their recovery and to reuniting families - a program that reflected his lasting commitment to rehabilitation and to the families who came before him.

After leaving the bench, Bob opened a successful practice as a mediator in 2005 and continued to contribute to the profession, working closely with the Nevada Supreme Court in his later years. His decades of public service - as legislator, judge, and mediator - left a lasting mark on Nevada's legal community.
