Roland Edward "Ed" Dannan - October 8, 1946 to October 17, 2013

Roland Edward "Ed" Dannan was born October 8, 1946, in Rochester, New York, to Constance Arlone and Roland Eugene Dannan. His family moved west to Henderson, Nevada, in 1952, and he graduated from Basic High School in 1964 before attending the University of Nevada, Reno, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1969. He taught Spanish at Proctor Hug High School from 1970 to 1973 before turning to the law, attending McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific in Sacramento from 1973 to 1976.

After being admitted to the Nevada bar in 1976, Dannan returned to Nevada to work as a bill drafter in the Legislative Counsel Bureau, where many of the bills he wrote still bear his name. In 1978 he joined the Washoe County District Attorney's Office as Chief Deputy District Attorney, a position he held until 1991. He briefly entered private practice before returning to public service.

In 1992, Dannan was elected to a seat on the Reno Justice Court, where he served unopposed and consistently earned high peer reviews in the Washoe County Bar ratings until his retirement on July 13, 2007. He passed away on October 17, 2013.
