Ronald James Gomes

Ronald James Gomes was born January 13, 1946, in San Jose, California, and had been a resident of Nevada since 1960. He earned a law degree from the University of Santa Clara law school, and he also held an MBA and a master's degree in architecture from Harvard University - a breadth of training that spanned law, business, and design.

A U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, Mr. Gomes went on to build a wide-ranging professional life in Southern Nevada. Colleagues remembered him as a talented designer, attorney, university lecturer, and computer expert, and he was a supporter of the UNLV College of Architecture, Construction and Planning from its earliest days. In his later years he served as an Internet Administrator, or Web Master, at Nellis Air Force Base.

Known for his generosity, sharp wit, and willingness to help friends and strangers alike, Mr. Gomes passed away April 13, 2011, at the age of 65. He was survived by his mother, Mildred, and his brothers, Geoffrey, Dennis, and Stephen, and was preceded in death by his father, Stephen, and his brother, Douglas Paul.
