Ronald John Logar

Ronald J. Logar was born August 15, 1935, in Erie, Colorado, and grew up in Hawthorne, Nevada, where he attended Mineral County High School. He went on to the University of Nevada, Reno, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and chaired several campus organizations, graduating in 1957 with a B.S. in chemistry. After taking advanced graduate courses at the University of Southern California, he discovered his passion for the law and earned his Juris Doctor from the Arizona College of Law in Tucson in 1961. Following graduation, he was selected to serve as a law clerk for the Nevada Supreme Court, completing that service in 1962.

Over the course of his career in Reno, the focus of Ron's practice evolved from a general civil practice - which included mining law and corporate litigation - to family law, as he came to champion the protection of families and the equality of parents and children in divorce. He founded the State Bar of Nevada Family Law Section and served as its president for several years. A recognized authority in the field, he was a guest lecturer at numerous seminars and training sessions for lawyers, judges, and forensic accountants, both locally and nationally, and he published numerous articles and legal papers on many aspects of family law and trial practice.

In 2009, Ron received the State Bar of Nevada Pillar Award, recognizing his leadership and his service to the advancement of family law. For many years he also held the highest rating from Martindale-Hubbell, "AV." He died on May 13, 2021, in Reno at the age of 85, leaving behind a lasting legacy in Nevada's legal community.
