Sean T. McGowan

Sean T. McGowan was born on August 19, 1952, in Appleton, Minnesota, and later moved with his family to St. Paul, where he graduated from Cretin High School in 1970. He attended the University of Arizona in Tucson, earning a bachelor's degree in 1974 and a law degree from its College of Law in 1978. He was admitted to the State Bar of Nevada in 1979 and devoted his entire professional career to the practice of law in Nevada and Arizona.

Mr. McGowan began his career with a judicial clerkship in Fallon, Nevada, and went on to serve as a deputy Nevada attorney general in Carson City and Las Vegas from 1980 to 1984, a period that included service as counsel to the State Gaming Control Board and the Nevada Gaming Commission. From 1984 to 1988 he was senior attorney for the Del Webb Corporation in Phoenix, Arizona. He then returned to Las Vegas, where he was engaged in private practice from 1988 until 2000.

In 2000, Mr. McGowan became North Las Vegas City Attorney, a position he held until his death on January 22, 2007. He was a member of the Nevada and Arizona bar associations and was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States.
