Shannon W. "Shane" Emerick - 1952-10-29 to 2018-03-17

Shannon W. "Shane" Emerick was born October 29, 1952, in Rantoul, Illinois, and grew up primarily in northern California and Iowa. Before entering the legal profession, he served in the United States Army from 1970 to 1988 as a helicopter aviator, rising to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. He later earned an undergraduate degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and a law degree from Arizona State University in 1991.

Admitted to the State Bar of Nevada on December 3, 1991, Shane devoted the heart of his legal career to public service. He spent 20 years as an attorney with the Clark County Public Defender's Office, where he advocated on behalf of those who could not afford counsel. It was there that he met his wife, Laura Rehfeldt, whom he married in 1997 at Lake Tahoe.

In his later career, Shane served as personal attorney to boxer Floyd Mayweather. Known among colleagues and friends for his kindness, thoughtfulness, and gift for storytelling, he passed away on March 17, 2018 - St. Patrick's Day, his favorite holiday, which he chose as his day to leave this life.
