In Memoriam
Steven D. Brown - June 18, 1968 to August 11, 2009
Steven Douglas Brown was born in Las Vegas on June 18, 1968. He graduated from Hurricane High School in 1986, where he served as student body president and was recognized as a natural leader. He joined the U.S. Air Force Reserves out of a deep love for his country, and from 1987 to 1989 he served a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Baton Rouge, Louisiana Mission.
A lifelong learner, Steven earned his bachelor's degree in history at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, before completing his legal education and earning a law degree at the J. Reuben Clark Law School. He built his legal career in Las Vegas, where he practiced with the firm Dempsey, Roberts and Smith. Guided by the motto "I fight for equality not for gain," he approached his work with dedication and tireless effort, and was remembered by colleagues for the good humor he brought to the office.
Steven passed away in Las Vegas on August 11, 2009, at the age of 41. Away from his practice, he read voraciously, enjoyed poker with family and friends, avidly supported the UNLV Rebels and the Los Angeles Dodgers, and rarely missed a U2 concert. He was remembered above all as a devoted husband and father, and a loyal brother and friend.
