Steven Michael Barker - 1951-01-06 to 2020-06-09

Steven Michael Barker was a Nevada attorney whose path to the law followed a life of service and perseverance. Before entering the legal profession, he served with the United States Marines from 1968 to 1974, returning from combat in Vietnam to finish high school. He went on to earn an MBA and graduate from law school, and was admitted to the State Bar of Nevada in 2000, beginning a legal career built on his deep passion for fairness and the law.

Mr. Barker spent the last eleven years of his career at the Washoe County District Attorney's office in Reno, where he prosecuted cases of domestic violence and sexual assault. Colleagues remembered him as a tough and tenacious advocate - a formidable opponent in the courtroom who never gave an inch he did not have to. Through his work, victims of these crimes found justice, and his commitment to that cause made him a hero to many.

Described as tough as nails and fiercely proud of both his military service and his work at the District Attorney's office, Mr. Barker was known for standing by those who needed him most. He is remembered for his integrity, his dedication to the law, and the lasting impact he had on the community he served.
