Thomas L. Pursel

Thomas L. Pursel was born January 13, 1927, in Marshalltown, Iowa, and moved with his family to Las Vegas in 1939. After graduating from Las Vegas High School in 1945, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Following his honorable discharge, he attended college in Reno and Los Angeles and graduated from California State University, then earned his Juris Doctorate at the law school of American University in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Pursel was admitted to the State Bar of Nevada in 1959 and went on to practice law for more than 45 years. During the 1960s he served as a Justice of the Peace, presiding over complex jury trials. He later practiced alongside his brother Jack at Pursel & Pursel, Ltd., and subsequently established his own firm, Thomas L. Pursel, Ltd. His practice concentrated on ERISA, subrogation law, and commercial litigation.

A longtime member of the Las Vegas legal community, Mr. Pursel was active in his church for more than 30 years and was a devoted supporter of UNLV. He passed away April 3, 2017, at the age of 90.
