Toy R. Gregory Jr.

The Honorable Toy R. Gregory, a longtime Las Vegas attorney and jurist, was born October 29, 1933, in Lancaster, South Carolina, and had resided in Las Vegas since 1946. He earned a bachelor of arts degree from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and in 1958 graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Law.

Gregory began his legal career in 1958, practicing law alongside his father until 1983 under the firm name Gregory and Gregory. He served as a deputy attorney general from 1967 to 1970 and acted as general counsel to the Nevada Savings and Loan Association and the Better Business Bureau of Southern Nevada. He was a member of the Clark County Bar Association, the State Bar of Nevada, and the American Bar Association.

For more than 24 years he sat on the Las Vegas Municipal Court bench as judge of Department 1, winning re-election to each subsequent term and serving as chief judge. Known for his reputation for fairness, he also served as a board member of the American Judges Association. Judge Gregory died January 3, 2008, at the age of 74.
