Trude Irene McMahan

Trude Irene McMahan was a longtime Las Vegas attorney whose career centered on elder law. After graduating as valedictorian of her Basic High School class, she attended the University of Michigan on a National Merit Scholarship in physics before transferring to the University of Nevada, Reno, where she earned a BA and an MA in English Literature. She went on to attend the McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, California, graduating second in her class and passing the bar in both California and Nevada.

Moving to Las Vegas, Trude joined the firm of Goodman, Oshins, Brown, and Singer, developing a practice specializing in elder law. She later moved to the firm of Amesbury and Schutt, and subsequently formed the partnership of Segal and McMahan, where she practiced until retiring - though she retained a few clients until shortly before her death.

Beyond her legal work, Trude was an active member of Soroptimist International of Greater Las Vegas for nearly 40 years, serving three times as President, as well as District Director for the Sierra Nevada Region and as Advocacy Chair, with advocacy for improving the lives of women and girls as her enduring passion. She was also a founding member of East Valley Family Services and served on its Board of Directors until 2019. She died on May 30, 2021, at the age of 74.
