Virgil Attilio Bucchianeri - December 24, 1937 to October 20, 2019

Virgil Attilio Bucchianeri was born in Carson City, Nevada, and graduated from Carson High School in 1955. He earned an Associate of Arts degree from the College of Marin in 1957 and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Nevada in 1960, before attending Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco, from which he graduated in 1963.

A longtime Nevada attorney, Mr. Bucchianeri built his practice on the Comstock and served the public throughout his career. He was Storey County District Attorney from 1971 to 1974 and again from 1987 to 1994, and also served for a time as Storey County Public Defender. His public service extended beyond the law to the Storey County School Board and the Storey County Planning Commission.

Beyond his legal work, Mr. Bucchianeri was a fixture of Comstock life. He wrote a column for the Comstock Chronicle for many years under the pen name "Joe Pastrami" and was a member of the choir at St. Mary's in the Mountains church in Virginia City. He is remembered as a colorful, community-minded figure whose counsel and character were closely tied to the history and character of Nevada.
