W. Randall Mainor

W. Randall "Randy" Mainor was a prominent Las Vegas trial attorney and a founding partner of the law firm Mainor Eglet Cottle. Born in Overton, Nevada, in 1941, he graduated from Basic High School in Henderson in 1960, attended the College of Southern Utah and Brigham Young University - where he earned a bachelor's degree in economics with a minor in Spanish - and received his law degree from American University in 1969. He served an LDS mission in Mexico earlier in his life.

Before entering private practice, Mainor worked as a special agent for the FBI and later as a criminal prosecutor with the Clark County District Attorney's office. Over a long career in personal injury litigation, he handled several multimillion-dollar cases, including a $25 million award in 1999 for a Las Vegas man injured when a bus lift prematurely activated. That same year he was recognized as Trial Lawyer of the Year.

Mainor died December 11, 2007, of prostate cancer at the age of 66. He is remembered as one of the region's leading trial lawyers and as a builder of one of southern Nevada's well-known plaintiffs' firms.
