William L. McGimsey

William Loyd McGimsey was a longtime Las Vegas attorney whose career in the Nevada bar spanned more than five decades. A graduate of Las Vegas High School, he attended the University of Arizona for both his undergraduate studies and his law degree. Following law school he served in the United States Navy JAG Corps, with deployments to Subic Bay in the Philippines and to Vietnam.

McGimsey built a broad legal practice in Las Vegas encompassing both transactional and trial work. He held one of Nevada's low, early bar numbers - a reflection of his long tenure among the state's practicing attorneys - and remained active in the profession, sharing an office with his law school roommate and continuing to practice law until shortly before his death.

He passed away on May 11, 2022, at the age of 77. He is remembered for his decades of dedicated service to the Nevada legal community.
